Drive Carmen Drive after seven on a Saturday in August and the parking situation tells you everything. Cars line the curb three blocks deep from Constitution Park, folding chairs strapped to shoulders, and a slow drift heads toward Old Town after the last encore. For years the after-concert plan was thin. In 2026 it isn't.
The thesis, before we get to the lineup
If you have lived in Camarillo for even a few summers, you already know the free concert series exists. What has changed this year is the geography around it. A cluster of new food-and-drink openings has landed in a two-mile corridor between Constitution Park and Old Town, and the result is that a Saturday night no longer ends when the band unplugs. That is the shift worth planning around for the rest of August.
The concert series is the anchor. The interesting part is what has opened within walking or five-minute-driving distance of it since the last time you tried to make an evening of it.
Constitution Park, one date left
The Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District and the City of Camarillo run the series at Constitution Park, 601 Carmen Drive. Concerts start at 7 p.m., admission is free, seating is lawn-only on a first-come basis, and food trucks are on site at every date. On-site parking is limited and reserved for cars with handicap placards until the lot fills, so the walk-in ritual with a chair over one shoulder is part of the experience by design.
The 2026 series runs from late June through August 8, which means one Saturday date remains as of this writing. The tribute-band programming this year has leaned heavily on nostalgia:
- 90s Rockshow, a live tribute with a real string section, covering Nirvana, Pearl Jam, No Doubt, Alanis Morissette, Blink 182, Green Day, and Radiohead
- Yellow Brick Band, a full Elton John tribute performing his catalog live rather than on tracks
- Blue Breeze Band, whose résumé includes performances for the U.S. Armed Services in Okinawa and Rose Bowl college football events
The August 8 close-out has Cousins Maine Lobster confirmed as one of the food trucks on the field starting at 5:30 p.m. If you have been meaning to try their lobster roll and have not wanted to chase the truck around the county, this is the easiest interception you will get this year.
Old Town, which is not the Old Town of two years ago
Here is where the two-mile radius does work for you. Old Town Camarillo has quietly absorbed a wave of independent openings that give the post-concert crowd somewhere to land. A short inventory of what is now within a short drive of Constitution Park:
Twisted Oak Tavern & Brewery has become the downtown default for a late bite. Regulars point to the Margarita flatbread, the Saigon Sliders, and the Forager burger, and the indoor-outdoor split means the wait is usually shorter than it looks from the sidewalk.
Azafran, just past its first anniversary, is doing a genuinely unusual menu for Camarillo: Peruvian ceviche and pan-seared octopus alongside shrimp tacos, burrata salad, ribeye, and chaufa fried rice. It reads like a catering menu because it is one, and the range means a table of six with wildly different appetites can actually agree.
Boochies Matcha Bistro has drawn a following in the "hot and new" listings for a specifically local reason. There are a lot of matcha shops opening across Ventura County right now, most of them cash-in operations. Boochies grades out on the drink itself, with a black-label option that is nutty rather than grassy. Worth the stop if you are the designated driver.
Loru's Cafe, Waypoint Cafe, and the long-running Twenty 88 Food and Drink round out the Old Town rotation for daytime and pre-show.
The Camarillo Town Center corner
The former Souplantation site at Camarillo Town Center has been dark long enough that people had stopped noticing it. That changes with Stephen's Grill, the second location from owner Grigorios Katrakazos, better known around town as Chef Ka. The Town Center location was slated for a late-February 2026 opening, which puts it inside the window of restaurants a longtime resident may not have tried yet. Worth a first visit if the concert plan gets rained out and you want a table with linens.
The Camarillo Outlets, for once
The Outlets are not typically where locals look for a Saturday-night restaurant, but two additions have shifted that. Rosa Madera opened at the Outlets with a modern-restaurant-and-bar format, and Flora Loca Rooftop Cantina gives Camarillo something it did not previously have at all: an actual rooftop with a full bar. If out-of-town guests are visiting during Fair season, this is the easy answer to the "where can we get a drink with a view" question.
Coming this fall to Camarillo Village Square
Slice House is filling the former Pizza Man Dan's at 2390 Las Posas Road, making it the fourth Ventura County location for the chain after Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, and a summer opening in Montalvo Square in Ventura. Not open yet, but worth knowing about if pizza-night logistics are a recurring conversation at your house.
The Thursday plan most residents miss
The Saturday concert gets the attention. The Thursday alternative is quieter and, for a lot of households, easier to actually pull off.
The Camarillo Ranch Foundation brings back the Throwback Thursday Food Truck Festival on one Thursday each in June, July, and, new for 2026, August. It runs on the grounds of the historic ranch, with a rotating truck lineup, craft beer, wine, and open house tours. The August addition is the reason to flag it here. If you have driven past the Ranch on Adolfo Road for years and never gone in, this is the low-commitment way to fix that.

The Car Cruise runs the last Friday of the month from March through October, which makes August 28 the second-to-last opportunity this year to catch it before the schedule wraps.
What this looks like for a resident who is already here
The through-line for late summer in Camarillo in 2026 is a shorter walk between the things you actually want to do. Concert on the lawn at Constitution Park, dinner at Twisted Oak or Azafran on the way home, coffee at Boochies the next morning, farmers market after that, tour of Camarillo Ranch on the Thursday before the school year starts. None of it is new individually. The density is new.
